Finding the Through-Line: What Gerhard Richter Taught Me in Paris
I've become absolutely consumed by creating software with AI, and have 2 apps I'll be launching soon (maybe / probably).
But first...
This past December I had plans to go to Portugal to spend Christmas with my family there.
A few days before that trip I discovered that there was not one, but TWO exhibitions in Paris about one of my favorite and most inspiring artists, Gerhard Richter.
So I simply had no choice but to skip on over to Paris for a few days (boo-hoo).
When I wasn't sipping wine and eating blocks of cheese, I found myself drooling over Gerhard Richter's multiple styles that he worked in, which I already knew about.
What I didn't know was the through-line in all of his works.
I previously thought, "Oh he's an artist and has just working in different styles because he's curious like that... just like me."
(This alone has been massively inspiring and validating to me, because I love to explore different styles, which you may already know about me, and you can see if you click through the past years of my paintings on my website.)
But seeing that there was actually a through-line in all of his styles was EVEN MORE INSPIRING. (For Richter, it has been the concept of "blur" and a blurred vision of the world).
How does this relate to anything?
I have always felt like I am a multi-faceted creator. Every few years I will dig my teeth into something new... learn it quite quickly and build things with it.
(If you've been here for a few years, you may remember my XIX Magazine, or perhaps my pottery.)
What I realized recently, and kind of knew all along, is that the through line for me has been trying to improve the human experience... both for myself and others.
This mission infuses everything I do, and all of the art that I make to hang in homes around the world.
I make things to improve the human experience.
Because we all end up in the same resting place, so might as well have a good time before that happens.
Back to my new apps.
In a world with ever-increasing amounts of information and knowledge being made available to us with AI... what will actually improve our lives?
My answer: better behaviors.
We can consume all the knowledge and information in the world but if we don't alter our behaviors, nothing will change for the better.
So I want to make things that will help people do just that.
As of now, here are my solutions:
Art: Surround yourself with beauty to alter your emotional state and thus alter your day to day life.
Kort Fitness (app): Receive personalized guidance (AI-powered) to lead a more active lifestyle and move your body (aka: workout) in ways that work for you and adapt to your needs.

Hope you enjoyed this lil story out of left-field.
More coming soon... lots more. Including a backlog of new paintings I've been making but haven't gotten around to sharing about yet (discussed in the video below).
PS: New Youtube video about recent art creations and inspirations that are guiding my newest art work in 2026.
