Overcoming Phone Addiction to Make More Art

· 1 min read

If you're anything like me, you wish you spent less time on your phone.

Maybe you realize that the more you use your phone, consume social media, new, Netflix, etc...

The more cluttered your mind feels, more anxiety, more forgetful, less present in life, etc...

Or maybe it's just me (it's not).

--(pause for breathing)--

Artists get to be a platform to communicate messages that are important to them. Here's one that has been on my mind for the last decade.

In this ever-increasingly stimulating world of information and distractions, it's becoming harder to stay focused and present with our lives.

The cost is our sanity!

No wonder analog technologies are growing right now - film photography, vinyl records, etc... and run clubs are growing in popularity along with wellness in person events and much more things to get us off our screens and back into reality. Real reality.

Isn't is crazy how worked up you can get just from looking at this tiny screen in your hand?!?!? This is no way to live.

So if you're still with me, I made a calming video talking about some of things I do to help me spend less time on my phone and more time in the real world.

I also talk about the importance (in my opinion) of creating your living space to be a sanctuary of peace, especially in today's world.

The video also shows some footage of me making the most calming piece yet (which I painted last week using a 100+ year old oil paint recipe... more info on these pieces coming soon).

Hope this video helps

PS. This is part of a new experiment to make more YouTube videos because I hate trying to compress full meaningful messages into a 10 second video on Instagram.
